Chengdu is situated in central China and is the capital of Sichuan Province . Chengdu was for over 2000 years one of the cultural centers
in West and South China. Sichuan has roughly the size of France and
more inhabitants than Germany. Chengdu has over 10 million
inhabitants by now and is the fifth largest city in China.
The most important industrial goods are precision instrument, IT
(amongst others Nokia, SAP, Intel and Lenovo) and electric
appliances. But also in the financial sector Chengdu is a major
player and this makes it one of the most important centres of
commerce in China.
Chengdu has an excellent transport connexion and the
international airport Shuangliu (CTU) offers direct flights to
Europe (via Amsterdam) and several Asian destinations. |
